Vacances coffee is an aesthetic cafe hidden within one of the old buildings around Euljiro in Seoul. It is hidden in the truest sense for we actually had a hard time looking for this cafe despite using Naver maps. Sharing the back story, we went back and forth in the area trying to figure which one of the tall buildings around houses this cafe. We were lucky when an older man took notice of us and gave us directions. As it turned out, the exact building was actually the first one that we went to.
The building was a bit old and the entrance was really narrow. You just need to head directly and ride their elevator to go up to the top floor where Vacances is located. Upon exiting the elevator, we just saw this big white steel door with a simple signage and upon entering, the way the cafe greeted our eyes was a bit surprising. It's so unexpected to find a bright and aesthetic cafe in that place.
The interior of Vacances is really nice, bright and very spacious. I love the ambience and the fact that the cafe is not crowded unlike most other cafes in Seoul. I love the mixture of the white and teal colored chairs and fixtures that really made the cafe minimalistic and subtly pretty. The lighting of the cafe must look even better come night time.
I can describe Vacances as an instagram-worthy cafe. Almost every part of the cafe looks bright and amazing in the photos. This seems like a really nice place to hang out with your friends, if you want somewhere a bit quiet and away from the big crowds that's so common in the busy city of Seoul. They really lived up to their concept and name as a cafe, giving off that cool and relaxed vacation vibes within the city. Most of its patrons must be the young workers within the vicinity.
Since it was only the start of February when we visited, they have this installed frame design inside the cafe making it look as if you're inside a gift. It must have been part of their Christmas decors in the cafe last December.
The lady barista doesn't speak English that much so it took us a bit of time ordering, but they do have an English menu. We just asked her for recommendations of the most popular drinks that they serve. She recommended this strawberry drink which my friend ordered, while I ordered their Vacances signature latte which turned out to be surprisingly different but good. I also ordered waffles for us to share.
My latte turned color green after I mixed it. It surprised me though but it tasted good.
To share, the real reason why we came to know about Vacances and how this cafe became a part of our itinerary is that it was one of the filming locations of the Korean drama, Little Women. As a big Kim Go Eun fan, this is a must see place for she filmed here as part of the second episode in the drama. There's just this unexplainable joy of being able to visit the places where she once filmed in or visited as well.
She filmed and was seated in this area :)
Aside from the cool interior, you must check out also their balcony area. The view of the tall buildings surrounding the cafe is mesmerizing too. It's perfect to be seated outside during the summer but since it was winter when we visited, we just went out for a bit to take some pictures.
When you come to Seoul and you're fond of cafe hopping, consider adding Vacances coffee to your itinerary. You'll be surprised at how good their coffee and other drinks are. You'll definitely enjoy the vibe of their cafe while sipping a perfect cup.
